The Art in Everyday Life
I recently had the opportunity to enjoy a late morning/early afternoon with a friend at a local treasure called "Crazy Daisies Flowers & Garden Cafe". Crazy Daisies is much more than what the name suggests!!! It also has an outdoor music venue. There are outdoor activities and places to run and play for kids as well as many spots to sit back and waste the day away for adults.
What brought my friend and I in that day was one of the many adult classes and activities that Crazy Daisies offers. We had committed ourselves to making an Easter centerpiece.
As soon as you enter the first greenhouse at Crazy Daisies, you know you have arrived at someplace special. They have crafted a beautiful flower display using nature's brightest palette visible soon after you walk in. After that, you are greeted by a cloud of iridescent bubbles floating through the air.
While my friend and I were following the instructions to build our centerpieces, I was struck by this thought, "This is art." There is art in arranging flowers-their arrangement guided by texture, size, shape, and color.
All of that gardening left us ready for cocktails and lunch!!! Off to the cafe we went!! Crazy Daisies has artfully crafted bar and lunch menus, and once again I was struck by an "Art is everywhere. You just have to look for it!" thought.
Art is more than just the traditional mediums that most consider. It breaks the boundaries of a surface with paint or pencil or an object built from clay. Food and drinks can be crafted in art. The way you decorate your space is your artistic expression. The clothing and accessories that you put on your body tell a visual story about you. Isn't that what art is, after all?
Crazy Daisies has made art out of food, drink, flowers, and the overall atmosphere they have created at their magical space.
I invite you, the reader, to look for art everywhere you go and in your life!!! For most of the time, where there is art, there is beauty. I think we can all agree that we could use a little more beauty in this world these days!!
For those of you in the Finger Lakes/ Syracuse New York area, you can check out Crazy Daisies here...
